Blinkin’ hell!

1. Stare at the red dot on the image below for 15 seconds
2. Glance over to a blank surface (a nice white wall ideally)
3. Blink like your life depends upon it.

FYI: I stumbled across this excellent optical illusion over on the Quipsologies blog.

This Shit Is Bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S

The lyrical wordsmith Gwen Stefani rarely sums up my emotions accurately, but you know what? I think I finally understand what she was chatting about. MailChimp.

I pretty much adore the entire brand of Mailchimp, its UI, tone of voice, ease of use, support, API, documentation and (not to be underestimated) its humour. The environment and functionality is an absolute delight to work with. It seems that it’s not just me who thinks this, .net magazine voted MailChimp as the redesign of the year (and rightly so).

Credit where credit is due…

With Firedog’s recent relaunch we really wanted to give the site enhanced usability by introducing new bleeding edge technology. In other words, we wanted to take the existing site, and Pimp It.

This blog post (the first of two) is to give some insight into the technical advances on the site. Post one (this little beauty) is in relation to our new portfolio page, its filtering system and the legend that is David DeSandro.

Aye be a scurvy Firedog!

Picture the scene – The entire Firedog team in wetsuits (calm down), life jackets and helmets. Yeah that’s right, we had a leak in the studio (insert laugh here).

In reality, we were all standing next to a vast reservoir in Sunbury – to the west of London. We all look like idiots (some more than others), 2 of us are relishing the challenge, the remainder are as we say in the fear business “bricking it”. The task that lay ahead was a days sailing at the Queen Mary Sailing Club.

Dont Panic design competition for budding designers!

Don’t Panic is running a design competition on the Don’t Panic site for all budding designers, graffiti and street artists to come up with a creative design.

The focus of the competition is to find new talent from across the UK, to help promote Channel 4′s Street Summer schedule of broadcasting in the only way which makes sense; using the competition winners designs as massive outdoor advertisements. This is a grassroots initiative that aims to give aspiring artists a platform that will allow them to share their work with a large audience.

The competition will run from 13th June to 17th July. Voting will run from 01st July to 17th July. Check out the competition page here >
