The wonders of WordPress

At Firedog our preferred content management system (CMS) is WordPress.

When I joined Firedog I had very little knowledge of the wondrous system. I have worked with various Content Management Systems previously; Kentico, Drupal and even a custom made CMS, but nothing lives up to the impeccable WordPress usability.

No more West End Xmas shopping boredom!

BoxparkIt’s the time of year where we need to rush out and stock up on Christmas presents for our friends and families. Even though the vast majority of Londoners buy their presents online (do we?) – There still is a time and place for soaking up the spirit and hitting the streets.

And what is more, you don’t have to rely on the nightmare crowds (and tourists) of the West End – There are plenty of less populated, and probably more interesting places to visit. Here are a couple of destinations that have been tickling our fancy this month.

Credit where credit is due…

With Firedog’s recent relaunch we really wanted to give the site enhanced usability by introducing new bleeding edge technology. In other words, we wanted to take the existing site, and Pimp It.

This blog post (the first of two) is to give some insight into the technical advances on the site. Post one (this little beauty) is in relation to our new portfolio page, its filtering system and the legend that is David DeSandro.

Firedog trip to a Papermill

At Firedog we love learning new things every day and if this involves being out of the office, then, we love it even more!

Recently, we were invited by GFSmith on a trip to the Lake District to show us the James Cropper Papermill.

GFSmith is an independent British company that provides lovely and distinctive coloured and textured papers. They work hand-in-hand with James Cropper creating Colorplan, a premium range of papers indispensable within the design industry. And they do it well, really well. Each paper is unique, has a different texture and personality and its own beauty.

Wondering where your nearest Wi-Fi hotspot is?

Well wonder no more, as the ingenious guys over at ThinkGeek have brought out the Hypercolor T shirt of the digital age – a Wi-Fi detector T shirt!

By wearing this T shirt, you can display the current Wi-Fi signal strength to yourself and everyone around you! The glowing bars on the front of the shirt dynamically change as the surrounding Wi-Fi signal strength fluctuates. Finally you can get the attention you deserve as others bow to you as their reverential Wi-Fi god, while geeky chicks swoon at your presence. You can thank us later!

Visit www.thinkgeek.com to purchase yours today!
